Too Many Cats!

“I’ve previously mentioned that every now and again, I arrange publication of outstanding work by a young author or illustrator. Generally publishers do not accept children’s work. We can get around this with personal design and printing and then the child’s family can sell the book on the young artist’s behalf. Last year I wrote a story for talented 11 years old artist Amber Edwards, and it has made a very nice picture book. I shall have this book “Too Many Cats’ on the website list of picture books, with contact details for the Edwards family should you wish to purchase a copy. The illustrations are amazing.  Amber has been asked to demonstrate with adult illustrators at the Storylines Children’s Literature Festival.”

"Amber, thank you very much for coming to Room 19 on Thursday, we really enjoyed your visit. You were well prepared and it was great how interactive the session was for the children. You have such an amazing talent and it was very kind of you to come and share it with us. The children have been practicing all the animals you taught them to draw and as you can see from their cards their skills had really developed after the session. I wish you every best wish for a successful future."

Amanda Lunken, Teacher, Churchill Park Primary School

"HUGE congratulations to Amber. Such an affirmation of her talent.”

"Amber Edwards recently conducted an hour long cartoon workshop for a group of 25 students from Years 6-8 at St Thomas's Primary School.

Amber had planned the workshop impeccably. She arrived promptly, equipped with all necessary resources. She quickly engaged the children with her fabulous drawings and interesting stories related to her drawing experience. Amber had carefully planned a sequence of drawings to demonstrate to the children. The drawings were easy for the children to follow and the children were delighted with the results.

Throughout the workshop, Amber was professional and well organised. She related to the children and teachers easily and made the drawings accessible and easy to achieve success.

I have no hesitation in highly recommending Amber's cartoon workshop and would be delighted to provide any further information if necessary."

, Year 7 teacher, St Thomas's Primary School

Katrina Lehman, Senior Editor (Books for Children & Young Adults), Penguin Group - Australia
"Your use of touches of colour is very good. Eg the pink on the underside of the clouds. The vibrant colours of the birds is beautiful. Good placing of text overlay. Your expressions are humorous and catch the attention of the reader - Well done!"

Judge #:10, Published Children's Author and Illustrator

"Loved the white space in this entry. And then the colours! Liked the way the birds were put into 'human environment' as naturally as anything - well done... Overall a fantastic entry."

Judge #:12, Published Children's Author, Graphic Novels & Illustrated Picture Book Judge

"Overall a great story, that is filled with 'survival skills' for younger children (and adults!) and in its simplicity gets a great message across."
